Ashland
A Lutheran church was founded among Swedish Finns in 1907 by some Mattson who at least told he was a priest. When it was realized that he was no real priest he lost support and the activity ended and the church was dissolved after only one year.

Archival Sources:
Incorporation papers and a general history of the congregation, compiled by Pastor Henry T. Aukee at the time of dissolution in 1976. The congregation had originated in 1891 when it joined the Suomi Synod, Ironwood, Michigan. Accompanying the history are copies of the articles of dissolution and newspaper articles. Also included is a copy of what appear to be the articles of incorporation, 1913, in Finnish, of the Superior Evangelical Lutheran Church, later to become St. John's.
