Petition Request, Taylor School, Astoria, Oregon

Petition Requesting Retaining Clara Barker as Principal at Taylor School in Astoria, Oregon. The following is from an undated petition probably from about 1916 in the collection of the Clatsop County Historical Society.

Some names have been Anglicized, for example Stonelake for Kivijarvi and Berry for Perila. The two signatures for Jacob Jackson are not the same, evidently two different people.

To the Honorable Board of Directors, School District #1.
Astoria, Oregon.

Gentlemen: -

We, the undersigned, residents of Taylor's Astoria and parents of the children attending the Taylor's School, respectfully represent to your Honorable body that Miss Clara Barker has given entire satisfaction as principal in the said Taylor's School, in fact, we consider her to be the best principal that ever taught in that grade in the said School, and we desire to express, to the Board, objection to any change being made and earnestly request your Honorable Body to retain Miss Barker as a principal in the said School, and we earnestly hope that the Board will see its way clear to comply with our wishes, in this respect. Very respectfully.
