It is envisaged that a Calendar of Upcoming Finnish-North American Events will be a useful vehicle to inform people of events relating to Finnish culture, heritage, genealogy and so on. This listing will include ALL events - symposia, meetings, concerts, festivals, Finnish school happenings, etc. of a social, political or any other nature that concerns Finns & Finland and occurring in North America. It is requested that the PR person involved with the event supply the following information if available: contact person, URL, e-mail address, fax number, postal address and phone number. - Finnfest USA 1996
FinnFest USA '96 was held in Marquette, Michigan between August 7 and 11, 1996. The registered attendance was about 6,200, and many thousands of others visited the tori (marketplace) and "Finn-Fun-Fest by the Lake," the public
showcase of the festival at Marquette's Ellwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

This year's 6th. Annual Heikinpaiva Celebration ran from Jan. 15-Jan. 23., with activities primarily in Hancock, but this year spread out to other local communities.

SAGA is organized to promote cultural exchange between the United States and the Nordic Countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden; to preserve and enjoy the Scandinavian traditions, customs, history and cultural heritage; to increase understanding of the Nordic people and societies among Americans; and to provide a forum where people interested in Scandinavia can meet and enjoy Nordic culture and activities.

- The Finlandia Foundation, Pittsburgh Chapter
The Finlandia Foundation, Pittsburgh Chapter is an organization dedicated to the support and preservation of Finnish culture. The Pittsburgh chapter sponsors regular meetings, an annual holiday party, a newsletter, language lessons, and other cultural or social events. This group is associated with the Finlandia Foundation National, the largest private source of support for Finnish culture in the United States and encompasses the Finnish Committee, part of the Nationality Rooms Program at the University of Pittsburgh. The chapter may also cosponsor events with the Scandinavian Society of Western Pennsylvania. Membership is open to anyone interested in our purpose and events.

In the 1800’s Finns went west… They couldn’t go much father west than the mouth of the Columbia River. In the green, surrounding hills and valleys, and in Finn tow ns like a
Astoria (kaupunki) and Naselle (pikkukylä) they fished, farmed, logged – and kept up old traditions while making new ones.
In July 2006, Finns go west again!

Since 1961, the people of Junction City Oregon have been celebrating their rich Scandinavian heritage by transforming the downtown area into a charming old world town. Offering cultural entertainment and activities in the authentic Scandinavian spirit, this four day event pays homage to the cultures of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland.

- Scandinavian fest - Scanfest Nordic Festival
An annual event taking place in a different part of the USA each year. An all-day celebration of the culture, history and ethnic variety of the Nordic area - Denmark with Faroe Islands and Greenland, Estonia, Finland with Åland, Iceland, Norway, Sápmi and Sweden with Scania.
In September 4, 2005 took place at the NJ Convention Center at the Raritan Center, Edison, NJ.
