- Short biography of John Hanson
Hanson was of Finnish descent. He ordered foreign troops off American soil. Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States (which all presidents since been required to use on all official documents). He also established the first Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, the first Foreign Affairs Department and Thanksgiving Day). He served in office from November 5, 1781 until November 3, 1782, making him the first President under the Articles of Confederation.

- WHERE DO FINNS COME FROM?
Not long ago, cytogenetic experts stirred up a controversy with their "ground-breaking" findings on the origins of the Finnish and Sami peoples. Cytogenetics is by no means a new tool in bioanthropological research, however. As early as the 1960s and '70s, Finnish researchers made the significant discovery that one quarter of the Finns' genetic stock is Siberian, and three quarters is European in origin.
